Shirin Ebadi
Iranian lawyer and human rights activist Shirin Ebadi, 56, awarded the 2003 Nobel Peace Prize on 10th October 2003. Ebadi, is the first Iranian and the first Muslim woman to win the coveted prize. She is one of Iran's most prominent human rights defenders, whose campaigning on behalf of women, children and outspoken dissidents has earned her the wrath of the Islamic republic's religious hardliners. the pictures show her arrival to Tehran a few days after announcing her award by the Nobel prize committee and at her office in Tehran on October 2003.
